What moves the price on the Amalfi Coast

The occasion. Weddings and elopements are quoted by the day, and the full day starts at €2,015, higher than in Rome, Florence or Venice, and runs to €4,970, with 450 photos as the typical delivery. An elopement — a ceremony on a terrace, portraits, a walk — fits a half day, from €970.

Season and sunrise. A package costs the same in any month and at any hour. The season decides everything else: from late spring to early autumn the towns are full, the ferries run and the beaches are covered in sunbeds from mid-morning; in winter many hotels close and most boats stop. Sunrise is the hour when Positano's beach is empty.

Distance. The coast road is the cost nobody prints. Positano to Amalfi is short on the map and long on an August afternoon, and Ravello sits up the hill above Amalfi. One town per hour is the rule; two towns make a half day.

Where the shoot happens

Positano from the Via Positanesi d'America. The cliff path from the Spiaggia Grande towards Fornillo looks back at the whole stacked town and the majolica dome of Santa Maria Assunta.
