About Chianti & the Tuscan wine country
Chianti is the stretch of hills between Florence and Siena, and it photographs as a drive rather than a walk. The Chiantigiana, the SR222, runs the length of it past Greve and Panzano, and the frames people come for are just off it: the cypress avenue and the ring of stone houses at Montefioralle, the vineyard bowl below Panzano, the ridge at Castellina where the covered walkway of Via delle Volte opens onto the valley.
