About The coves of Caminia and Copanello

Get directions

South of Catanzaro the Ionian coast breaks into rocky coves around Stalettì: Caminia, a crescent of white sand under green hills, and Copanello, where granite rocks and small islets stand in clear, shallow water.

The rocks give natural seats and frames for couples and families, and the water turns from pale green to deep blue as the light changes. The coast faces east, so the coves catch the sunrise over the sea, and in the late afternoon the hills behind them put the beach in soft, even shade.

The paths down to some of the coves are steep, and parking is short in August, so plan the route with your photographer. Access can change after winter storms — check before you go.

Tips

For a sunrise session, book a photographer who knows the paths — the light comes up over the sea straight in front of you.
