During this time, your photographer will guide you through different backdrops — perhaps starting at a scenic viewpoint, moving to a charming side street, and finishing at a waterfront or garden. The golden rule is to coordinate without matching — choose complementary colors and classic styles that reflect your personality. Solid colors and muted tones (navy, cream, sage, terracotta) photograph beautifully against Italy's warm-toned architecture and lush green landscapes. Avoid busy patterns, large logos, or neon colors that can distract from you as a couple. Comfortable shoes are essential, especially in Rome and Florence where cobblestone streets and hillside viewpoints are common. Bring a second outfit if you'd like variety — many couples change halfway through longer sessions. Golden hour — the hour after sunrise or before sunset — provides the most flattering, warm, romantic light and is universally recommended by professional photographers. In Italy, sunset times range from around 5:30pm in winter to 9:00pm in summer, so plan accordingly. Sunset sessions in Rome and Florence are especially popular because the westward-facing viewpoints catch the light over the river and rooftops beautifully. Sunrise shoots are quieter and give you famous landmarks nearly to yourselves, which is ideal for Siena or heavily touristed areas. Midday sessions can work but require a photographer experienced with harsh light. Your Photo Italy photographer will recommend the ideal timing for your specific location and season.

Photoshoots in western Sicily start from €319, and one- to two-hour packages run roughly €319 to €450 depending on the length and the number of edited photos. One hour covers the lanes of Erice or the salt pans on their own. Segesta, Scopello and San Vito Lo Capo are each half an hour or more from Trapani by car, so pairing two of them needs the longer session.

The salt pans south of the city, where the windmill at Nubia stands in shallow water that turns pink at sunset; the stone lanes and courtyards of Erice with the Castello di Venere on the cliff edge; the unfinished Doric temple of Segesta alone on its hillside; and the old tonnara at Scopello with the rock stacks in front of it. San Vito Lo Capo adds white sand under a limestone headland.

April to June and September to October, when the heat is workable and the light stays clean. The salt pans face west and are made for the last hour before sunset; Erice is best in the morning, because cloud rolls over the summit in the afternoon and can swallow the town whole. Segesta has no shade at all, so early or late is the only comfortable option in summer.
