Professional photoshoots in Siena start from €279. A typical one- to two-hour session runs roughly €279–€450, depending on duration and the number of edited photos — from a short walk around the Piazza del Campo to a longer route taking in the cathedral and the contrada lanes above it.

The Piazza del Campo, which works as one enormous open-air studio, the striped marble of the Duomo and its piazza, the Facciatone terrace looking over the rooftops to the countryside, the steep contrada lanes off Via di Città, and the ramparts of the Fortezza Medicea at sunset. Everything is within a fifteen-minute walk.

First light and the last hour before sunset: Siena's brick glows at both, and the centre stays quiet early even in August. Midday in high summer means real heat and hard shadow across the sloping square. Spring and autumn are the kindest months, and early July brings the Palio and its crowds.

The Palio is run on 2 July and 16 August, and for several days around each race the Piazza del Campo is given over to the sand track, the stands and the trial heats — wonderful to witness, impossible to shoot in calmly. If your trip falls in those windows, check the exact dates and let your photographer start early or move the session to the contrada streets.

It depends on the photographer. Many studio photographers run their own space and include it in the session fee — check the package description on their profile. Others book a third-party studio per session and pass the cost through (typically €40–€100 depending on city and studio size). Most 60-minute studio sessions include 2–3 outfit changes; 90-minute sessions allow 3–4. Studios have changing areas, mirrors, and full-length lighting for outfit checks. Bring outfits on hangers (less wrinkled) and shoes that match — feet often appear in editorial-style shots. For headshots specifically, one neutral top + one professional/business top is enough; for personal branding or editorial, more variety helps. Your photographer will guide which outfits photograph best against the chosen backdrop.
