Rom ist Maßstab: antike Kulissen von der Größe eines Hügels, ockerfarbene Gassen, Terrassen, hinter denen die Sonne über dem Petersdom untergeht. Florenz ist Konzentration: Dom, Rathausplatz und Fluss innerhalb von fünfzehn Gehminuten – eine goldene Stunde kauft dort drei verschiedene Looks. Keine der beiden ist „fotogener" – sie sind auf entgegengesetzte Weise fotogen.

Wo welche Stadt gewinnt
Rom gewinnt bei der Vielfalt. Antike (Kolosseum, Forum), Barock (Navona, Trevi), Dorfcharakter (Trastevere), Grün (Villa Borghese), Panorama (Pincio, Aventin). Ein Zwei-Stunden-Shooting wechselt zweimal die Welt. Der Preis sind die Distanzen: Diese Kulissen liegen 20 bis 40 Gehminuten auseinander, und mit einem Ein-Stunden-Paket legt man sich auf ein Viertel fest.
Florenz gewinnt bei der Effizienz. Vom Dom zur Ponte Santa Trinita sind es zehn Minuten zu Fuß, vorbei an der Piazza della Signoria und der Uffizien-Kolonnade. Keine Transfers, keine Taxis, keine Verhandlung mit einer ZTL. Für ein einstündiges Shooting ist es fast automatisch die bessere Stadt: Sechzig Minuten ergeben drei unterschiedlich aussehende Bildstrecken.
Rom gewinnt im Morgengrauen. Beide Städte füllen sich, aber Roms Morgengrauen ist die größere Verwandlung: Die leere Piazza Navona ist einer der großen Anblicke Europas, und das Centro storico bleibt im Winter fast zwei Stunden lang nutzbar.
Florenz gewinnt beim Aufstieg. Der Piazzale Michelangelo und die Terrassen darunter liefern die ganze Stadt – Dom, Palazzo Vecchio, den Arno – in einem einzigen Bild zum Sonnenuntergang. Rom hat Aussichtspunkte, aber keinen, der die ganze Stadt so sauber zusammenfasst.
Rom gewinnt im Winter, Florenz im Frühling. Roms tiefe Wintersonne schmeichelt dem Ocker den ganzen Tag, und die Plätze bleiben bis zehn Uhr abends brauchbar. Florenz bekommt Ende April und im Mai die Glyzinien im Bardini-Garten, den Rosengarten und grüne Hügel hinter jedem Panoramabild.
Das Gedränge, ehrlich gesagt
Beide sind von Mitte Vormittag bis zur Dämmerung voll, von April bis Oktober. Der Unterschied ist die Geometrie: Roms Menschenmengen sammeln sich an einer Handvoll Ikonen und verteilen sich dazwischen; Florenz' Zentrum ist klein genug, dass die Menge es von Wand zu Wand ausfüllt. Im August halten Florenz' Steinstraßen die Hitze zudem spürbar länger. In beiden Städten lautet die professionelle Antwort gleich: im Morgengrauen fotografieren – oder hinaufsteigen.

We couldn't recommend Georgiana more as a wedding photographer! From our very first meeting, we knew she would be an absolute dream to work with. She took the time to meet us at our venue months before the wedding — even late in the evening when that was the only time we were available! She was so attentive and we instantly loved her laid-back, friendly approach. Our wedding included multiple ceremonies, including a traditional Asian ceremony, and it meant so much that Georgiana took the time to learn about each stage so she could capture all the important moments perfectly. Wenn wir nur eine Stunde buchen – welche Stadt?
Florenz, fast ohne Einschränkung. Eine Stunde dort umfasst zu Fuß Dom, Signoria und Arno, also drei völlig verschiedene Hintergründe ohne eine Minute Transit. Dieselbe Stunde in Rom reicht für ein Viertel – was gut ist, wenn Sie es bewusst wählen (nur Trastevere, nur das Forum-Ufer), aber Sie werden die anderen Kulissen nicht sehen. Ab zwei Stunden dreht sich das Argument zugunsten Roms.
Zu welcher Uhrzeit sollten wir buchen?
In beiden Städten zum ersten Licht, wenn die Bilder die Monumente enthalten sollen: zwischen 6:30 und 8:30 Uhr im Sommer, ab etwa 7:30 Uhr im Winter. Die goldene Stunde am Abend liefert wärmeres Licht, aber volle Plätze – sie ist die bessere Wahl für den Piazzale Michelangelo, das Arno-Ufer und römische Aussichtsterrassen, wo Menschen im Hintergrund nicht stören. Der Mittag ist in beiden Städten die schlechteste Option.
Braucht man eine Genehmigung?
Für ein Lauf-Shooting mit einer Kamera, ohne Stativ und ohne Licht, im öffentlichen Raum: nein. Problematisch wird es an drei Stellen – staatliche Museen und archäologische Stätten (Kolosseum, Forum, Uffizien-Innenräume) verlangen für professionelle Ausrüstung eine Genehmigung, die Spanische Treppe darf nicht als Sitzplatz genutzt werden, und die Fontana di Trevi ist mit Absperrungen geregelt. Ihr Fotograf kennt die Linie und plant die Route entsprechend.
