Professional photoshoots in Portofino start from €279. A typical one- to two-hour session runs roughly €279–€450, depending on duration and the number of edited photos — from a short shoot around the piazzetta and harbour to a longer walk up through the pines to Castello Brown and the lighthouse.

The piazzetta with its painted house fronts and moored boats, the terrace of the church of San Giorgio above the harbour, the climb past Castello Brown, the path onward to the lighthouse with three or four elevated frames in pine shade, and the green-blue cove at Paraggi five minutes away for the water pictures.

First light, when the fishermen are the only people out and the harbour water is glass — it is a completely different, and better, village at that hour. By midday in season the piazzetta is busy and expensive. Golden hour from the path to Castello Brown is the other window. May, June and September are best; winter is quiet, with many closures.

The piazzetta is public and ordinary couple or family sessions are welcome, but the village is tiny and tightly managed. Cars stop at the paid car park by the entrance, and in recent summers the council has kept no-waiting zones in the busiest corners at peak hours; tripods or anything resembling a production may need permission, and Castello Brown is ticketed. Check what applies on your dates.

It depends on the photographer. Many studio photographers run their own space and include it in the session fee — check the package description on their profile. Others book a third-party studio per session and pass the cost through (typically €40–€100 depending on city and studio size). For clarity, the price shown on Photo Italy includes everything unless the photographer's profile says otherwise. If you're unsure, message the photographer before booking — they'll confirm whether studio rental is bundled.

Most 60-minute studio sessions include 2–3 outfit changes; 90-minute sessions allow 3–4. Studios have changing areas, mirrors, and full-length lighting for outfit checks. Bring outfits on hangers (less wrinkled) and shoes that match — feet often appear in editorial-style shots. For headshots specifically, one neutral top + one professional/business top is enough; for personal branding or editorial, more variety helps. Your photographer will guide which outfits photograph best against the chosen backdrop.
